Here's the story:
Murray Greenberg (never met him; he died before I got here) was a Jewish Spanish civil war veteran and communist who opened a wholesale butter and egg shop a few doors up Cornelia street in 1940. The old timers tell me that even though he was an old leftie, he was still a street smart capitalist who used to buy cheese cheap and trim it and sell it. In the 70's he sold the shop to his clerk Louis Tudda, an Italian immigrant from Calabria.

Our team does all the work. You enjoy the party. Intimate dinner parties, dream weddings, galas and fundraisers – large or small, we treat every event like it’s our only event.

Some of our specialties include our “almost famous” cuban-style pork, signature s’mores with homemade marshmallows, organic farm to table events, and “whole big fish” – just to name a few.

Michele has accepted a Chef’s position with New York City’s premier cheese company, Murray’s Cheese. She will continue to spend the rest of this coming year as chef for a cookbook from “Real Food” food writer Nina Planck, as well.
Michele’s goal is to become a true blue cheese monger and she will also be taking classes in charcuterie making, wine pairings as well as continuing to hone her cooking skills. Knowledge, like food, is the never-ending search for perfection.
When I was approached by Murray’s Cheese I couldn’t believe my good fortune. I have always wanted to work in New York and the Murray’s team is EXACTLY the type of food family I want to be a part of. My work with Nina Planck continues and I will be delighted to announce the release of her upcoming Real Food Cookbook. I am so pleased to have the continued support and leadership of James Maroldi (The New Boss) & our excellent kitchen team on a daily basis. James Maroldi is and has been the Executive Coordinator here at DiSh Catering for the past five years and he is the reason I was able to say yes to this dream job. My confidence and love for this company and the staff that is running it is second to none! I plan on still being fully involved with all that is DiSh. Everything I learn will be shared with my team here at DiSh. I even hope to plan field trips to the Murray’s classroom for staff members to expand their knowledge of one of my favorite foods in the world. They are almost more excited than I am.
